Cannot obtain schema rowset ERROR - from 2008 64-bit to 2005 32-bit

Error Msg 7311:
"Cannot obtain the schema rowset "DBSCHEMA_TABLES_INFO" for OLE DB provider "SQLNCLI10" for linked server "Server2005". The provider supports the interface, but returns a failure code when it is used."

All the other threads on this subject have dealt with a linked server from a 64-bit instance of 2005 or 2008 to a 32-bit instance of 2000 (SQL version 7). The solution is described in a kb article 906954.

In my case, the target server is running SQL version 8.0.2066 SP4. The source server is version 10.50.1600 RTM 64-bit.

Has anybody resolved this case?

Thanx!

Hi all,

Why should you not put a clustered index on your Identity column?

SQL Server 2012 - frequent "System Health Monitor Thread: Operating system error Exception 0x1 encountered" errors in Application log

We have recently installed a brand new Windows 2008 R2 server and installed SQL Server 2012 (and SP1) on it. We have moved a couple of databases from SQL 2005 to it.

Frequently the following is written to the Application log:

Event ID 17053 - "System Health Monitor Thread: Operating system error Exception 0x1 encountered."

It has also been generating SQL dumps regularly, I've pasted an example at the end of my post.

We have installed Cumulative update package 2 (CU2) for SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1, since then the dumps have stopped being generated but the following is still being written to exception.log frequently:

"03/07/13 09:54:53 spid 14 Exception 0xc000000d EXCEPTION_INVALID_CRT_PARAMETER at 0x7690C41F"

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Paul

SQL Server 2012 - FileTable FileShares getting out of sync.

$

It's strange to me that I can't find anyone with the same issue, because it's happening to me in two different though similar environments...

I am creating FileTables and FileShares with non-transacted access "Full".  I have a problem with several scenarios, but I'll detail one of them:

Scenario:

UserA copies a file to the FileShare (via mapped drive X:).  File is visible in the share from the Server and UserA's computer.  UserB doesn't see the file (also mapped drive).  I move the file while logged in to the server to another folder in the FileShare of the same FileTable.  The file still appears to be in the original location to UserA for a period of time (UserA can even open it), but then it appears to be gone from the original location.  However, it doesn't appear in the new location to UserA.  Meanwhile, UserB never sees the file.

Now UserC logs into a remote desktop.  UserC sees file in new location.  UserA copies a new file to the FileShare.  UserC can't see the new file.  UserC logs off remote desktop and logs in again.  UserC sees the new file.

UserA connects to the same location using a different name in DNS and mapped drive Y: and sees the file in the new location.  On drive X:, file still isn't visible.

Bottom line - A remote connection to the server always shows files in their correct folders.  Clients, however, can't see actions taken by other users or from the server unless they log off their desktop and log in again or connect to the server's FileShare using a different DNS name.

This all seems pretty crazy to me, but there has to be a reason why I'm seeing this behavior consistently in two environments.

Suppress Full Text Catalog informational messages?

$

I see alot of the following messages in our SQL Logs:

Changing the status to MERGE for full-text catalog "ftConsolidatedIB" (8) in database "DeviceInfo" (24). This is an informational message only. No user action is required.

Is there a way to suppress those messages from writing to the sql logs?  It's just filling up our sql logs and hard to sift through messages in the logs.

Thanks!

I am running SQL Server 2008 R2SP2  x64  16GB RAM Max Memory 13500  single application on server.

Every so often (once a month - Random time) we get a major bottleneck on server.  What can I check to remedy this?  Customer wants to increase RAM 20 32GB but I say this may not resolve issue.

SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Services (contains the database engine, Express Tools, Reporting Services)

$

Hi all,

A new Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express with Advanced Services (contains the database engine, Express Tools, Reporting Services and Full Text Search) was just installed in my "Windows 7" PC.  I saw the following files and folders in my C:Drive: (i) "Microsoft SQL Server 2012" folder that has Import and Export Data (32-bit), Import and Export Data (64-bit), SQL Server Data Tools, SQL Server Management Studio; (ii) "Configuration Tools" folder that has Reporting Services Configuration, SQL Server Configuration Manager, SQL Server Error and Usage Report..; (iii) "Documentation & Community" folder; (iv) "Integration Services" folder that has Data Profile Viewer, Deployment Wizard, Execute Package Utility, Project Conversion Wizard.

In my SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS 2012), I have a database "SHCSQLEXPRESS" that has 2 dbo Tables (NAB-WK-1234567.dbo.Table_1_APG_XYcoord and NAB-WK-1234567.dbo.Table_2_Soil).  I can do "JOIN" on the 2 Tables, then do"Query" to extract the "useful" chemical data in the result set of my T-SQL output (I posted my questions and results in this Forum about 2 weeks ago).  I plan to do the "Reporting Services" in the SQL Server 2012 Express/SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS 2012), but I don't know how to proceed.  Could you please kindly help me and give me the necessary tips/key steps and procedures of "Reporting Services" by using the SQL Server 2012 Express and SQL Server 2012 Management Studio (SSMS 2012)?

Thanks in advance,

Scott Chang

P. S. From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library, I read the following:

SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Tutorials (SSRS): (1) Create a Data-Driven Subscrition (SSRS Tutorial)-3 Lessons using the "AdventureWorksDataSet" and (2) Create a Basic Table Report (SSRS Totorial).

I did not gain much from these 2 sets of tutorials about the Reporting Services of SSRS.

use of FileTable causing the slow down of file copy or creating files?

Hi!

I'm using SS2012

I have created a filetable. My program that creates some files runs slower when the share is a file table share instead of

a normal share without file table (both shares are on same server).

Anyone seen similar?

Any suggestions for solution?

Best Regards

Bjorn

SQL Server 2008R2 Copy Database fails trying to create a domain login

$

I have an existing SQL Server 2008R2 server on Domain_A and a new SLQ Server 2008R2 on Domain_B. I am trying to use the Copy Database SSIS method to copy an existing database from Domain_A to Domain_B. I am using SQL authentication on both accounts to get around untrusted domain issues.

In to Copy Database Wizard, on the "Select Server Objects" page, I removed the Logins object from the "Select related objects" field because the l0gins are Windows accounts on Domain_A and I need to recreate logins on Domain_B.

However, the copy database wizard fails with an Event ID 12550 in the destination server application event log (source: SQLISPackage100), stating the following;

Message: Error: Error code= -1073548784  description = Executing the query "Create user [Domain_A\IUSR_MA3] for login [Domain_A\IUSR_MA3] failed with the following error: Windows NT user or group "Domain_A\IUSR_MA3" not found.

It appears that it is trying to create a login for the database on the destination server, even though I explicitly removed the "logins" from the Selected server objects list.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi,

Msg 8909, Level 16, State 1, Line 1

Table error: Object ID 0, index ID -1, partition ID 0, alloc unit ID 0 (type Unknown), page ID (1:3817326) contains an incorrect page ID in its page header. The PageId in the page header = (0:0).

To make things worse, I cannot find a good backup copy of the db. Any idea about repairing this would be greatly appreciated.
